Served as a park ranger in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area for over 20 years. David retired from serving the Sawtooth NRA to pursue his dream of providing campers with the same types of experiences that made him fall in love with the Smoky Mountains in the first place.
Is a hunter, fisher, and all-around outdoorsman who has spent his entire life in Idaho. He has a homestead with a backyard that backs up onto the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, and wants to spend the rest of his life sharing the breathtaking magic of the Smoky Mountains with others.
When David and Paul discovered a 20-acre parcel of land for sale within Sawtooth National Recreation Area, they knew it would be the ideal place to put their shared passions to work. They created a compelling narrative for Shimmering Creek RV Resort and persuaded the Idaho Department of Parks & Recreation to allow the project to proceed.
The Commissioners were so enthralled by their idea that they not only immediately gave the go-ahead for the project, they offered to help with the funding! David and Paul’s dream of providing unforgettable experiences to the travelers, adventurers, and wanderers, no matter their age or background, had come true.
Shimmering Creek RV Resort is located within the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, in a lodgepole pine forest with the Shimmering Creek meandering its way along and through the property’s 20 acre limits. It serves as a gateway to over 700 miles of trails, 40 spectacular peaks rising over 10,000 feet, and multiple alpine lakefronts. We offer you the opportunity to explore the legendary scenery of this area through hiking, backpacking, fishing, canoeing, rafting, bicycling, and more.
